Area Open Day – July 2026

19th July saw the annual BMFA Midland Area Open Day which, unlike last year, was blessed with blue sky and sunshine albeit windy at times.

The object of the open day was to give members of area clubs the chance to meet up and fly on a casual basis and to make or renew acquaintances. A good turnout of both R/C and C/L pilots brought many models and in this respect it was successful.

On the C/L front the South Birmingham MFC ran the next ‘Absent Friends’ competition which was won by Dave Cowburn.

It is unfortunate that only 12  clubs were represented – approx 10% of the clubs in the area. In discussions it seems that part of the reason for this is that information on the day is not being received or passed from club officials. If you did not know of this then please have a ‘subtle’ word with your committee!

In summary there was much tea drinking and chatting and it was clear that the day was enjoyed by all.
