The first round of the South Birmingham Absent Friends Competition took place at the Arley sportsground on 21st June 26. The weather was warm & sunny with lightish winds which were ideal. The Arley sportsground has recently added a brand new toilet & changing room and these were available for the competitors. A 200ft diameter circle had been marked out by the groundstaff for the day.
There were three entrants and the competition comprised 3 rounds. The judge was Tony Field assisted by Geoff Hodges. At the close the winner was John Allcck of South Birmingham followed by Paul Cooper of Nuneaton. Trevor Tennant of Nuneaton filled the last spot.
A good day was had by all. The next round is to be held at Buckminster on 19th July.
